ANBI §3: OBJECT & ACTIVITIES

§3 Foundation's Object & Activities

The objective set out below is provisional and will be replaced with the exact wording from the Articles of Association upon incorporation.

The objective of Stichting Seva Europa is to serve the public benefit and, without an aim for profit, to address avoidable blindness amongst the world's most marginalized populations by building sustainable eye care worldwide.

Activities:

The Stichting serves the public benefit by transforming eye care from a neglected service into durable public systems. It does so by supporting innovative technology development, conducting rigorous research to validate cost-effective medical interventions, building the professional capacity of local healthcare workforces, and establishing self-sustaining infrastructure and approaches that provide permanent, high-quality eye care to the world's most vulnerable and remote populations.

§4 Board Composition

The board of Stichting Seva Europa consists of:

Leadership:

Executive Director: Kathleen (Kate) Moynihan

The Executive Director is not a member of the Board of Directors.

ANBI §5: REMUNERATION

§5 Remuneration Policy

Board members receive no remuneration for their activities as policymakers.

Board members may receive reimbursement of expenses incurred and non-excessive attendance fees for meetings.

The Executive Director currently serves pro bono.

Any future employees will be compensated at arm's-length market rates.

ANBI §6: POLICY PLAN

§6 Policy Plan (Beleidsplan)

Stichting Seva Europa's policy plan outlines strategic goals for eliminating avoidable blindness through sustainable eye care systems.

Program Delivery: The Stichting's envisaged programs span Africa, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe, designed and governed by Stichting Seva Europa in collaboration with local partners. Programs focus on building sustainable eye care infrastructure, training local healthcare workers, and delivering accessible, high-quality eye care services to underserved populations.

Research: Stichting Seva Europa has a strong interest in research that demonstrates and validates the operational efficacy of eye care interventions. Rigorous evidence is essential not only to improve program quality but to make the case — to governments, funders, and health systems — that investment in accessible eye care is one of the most cost-effective means of addressing poverty and inequality.

Funding target: €900,000 in 2026–2027.

Less than 15% of the Foundation's expenses are spent on administrative and fundraising costs.

ANBI §7: FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

§7 Financial Statements

As a newly established foundation, Stichting Seva Europa will publish its first annual financial statements following the completion of its first fiscal year. Financial statements will include:

  • Balance sheet
  • Statement of income and expenditure
  • Explanatory notes

Financial statements will be published within 6 months after the ending of each financial year.

§8 Activity Report

The first activity report will be published following the completion of the first year of operations. The report will detail programs and activities undertaken, partnerships established, funds raised and allocated, and impact achieved.
